Silk Road Tea Party
December 12, 2015
10:00 to 5:00

On December 16, 1773, the Sons of Liberty staged a protest of monumental size.  They boarded three vessels, cracked open hundreds of wooden casks, and poured 45 tons of tea overboard.  This bold and daring move helped shift our nation towards independence.  A handful of people, determination, courage to stand up, and the world is changed.  At the Silk Road Market, we applaud those who are trying to change the world for the better.  So on December 13, in the spirit of the Boston Tea Party, we’re cracking open our teas.  Bring your favorite tea cup, or use one of ours, and drink up.  For all of us with ties to the British, fresh baked scones will be available as well.  So eat, drink, and enjoy browsing a variety of handcrafted items from around the world.

World Fair Trade Day
Saturday, May 14, 2015
10:00 - 5:00

It's World Fair Trade Day!  You know, that one day of the year set aside to celebrate the impact that fair trade can make through out the world.   Since the day is about people being helped out of poverty, I'm dedicating May 9th to doing just that with the fifth annual Charity Spree.  According to recent statistics, there are roughly 27 million people living in slavery.  They're in labor camps, brothels, even circuses.  That's a huge number!  On May 9, come celebrate  World Fair Trade Day and take the opportunity to help fight slavery.  This one day, 20% of all sales will be donated to the Free Forever Campaign through Made by Survivors.  This campaign will built a third shelter that can house 125 survivors as well as a training and education facility.  The more you shop, the greater the impact!  I hope to see you all there for a little food, a little fun, and an easy way to be a modern day abolitionist.

Christmas Arrives at The Silk Road
November 5

It's time for the Holiday decorations to come out in full force!  You've seen pictures of many of our nativities online...but now they are all out and on display.  From the glass art from Peru to the recycled pop can from Kenya, some of these nativities are sure to make you smile.  Others are just amazing to look at with details that must have taken painstaking hours to complete.  I've made an effort to bring in the largest variety of nativities that I could find with regard to material, technique, and countries represented.  Some are breathtakingly beautiful...and some are, well, not so pretty...but they all have special character that makes every last one a treasure to have in any home.  Also arriving are ornaments from the far reaches of the world, handmade holiday greeting cards, stockings to hang, treeskirts, and decorations that put you in the holiday spirit.  Many items are limited in supply, so stop early for the best selection.
